Ektron Inc., a technology and market leader in Web content management software, reports a steady growth in customers in the Healthcare industry. Ektron attributes this growth to its Healthcare Practice, a team dedicated to working with healthcare providers in the development of their Web strategy using Ektron CMS400.NET.
Ektron’s Healthcare Practice works with providers to help define and develop their Web strategy for both their employee intranets as well as their public facing sites. Recent Ektron customers in the healthcare industry include The Lahey Clinic, Kindred Healthcare and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
With a deep understanding of hospital online marketing, the requirements of healthcare IT infrastructures and the regulations that are in place, Ektron was able to align each of the three providers’ challenges with unique Web strategies using Ektron CMS400.NET, its Web content management (WCM) platform. The Lahey Clinic selected Ektron based on its ability to provide the right set of tools to run both their public facing Web site and internal Web properties. The Lahey Clinic, similar to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Kindred Healthcare, also needed a way to easily integrate their WCM platform with existing third party applications.
“Web sites play a critical, strategic role in promoting healthcare organizations,” stated Chris Crombie, director of sales operations at Ektron. “Not only do they need to communicate a provider’s services and community value but they also need to streamline the healthcare experience for their customers and physicians. Kindred Healthcare and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics are both great examples of larger providers looking to do exactly this.”
Kindred Healthcare needed to connect their 80 plus hospital locations (totaling over 7,000 beds) through one central system while the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics needed a WCM platform that was easy to extend and maintain from a development standpoint. It was imperative to both providers that their content authors could easily manage and update site content so they can promote their specialties and core service lines as well as communicate the value they provide to their communities.
