Capsule parnters with Arcomed to provide connectivity between IV pumps and information systems

Arcomed AG, a global provider of IV pumps, and Capsule, the leading provider of medical device connectivity, today announced an agreement that promotes connectivity between Arcomed's IV pumps and hospital information systems using Capsule's leading vendor neutral connectivity solution. The agreement ensures that Arcomed's Volumed® µVP 7000 and Syramed® µSP 6000 IV pumps and their UniQueCONCEPT™ IDMS (Infusion Data Management System) have the most current connectivity software and creates a foundation for all future Arcomed products to connect to any hospital information system.

"The connectivity between IV pumps and information systems is vital to our customers," said Beat Rechsteiner, Director Global Business, at Arcomed AG. "Being an industry leader, Arcomed has always driven technology which increases patient safety and enhances workflow in the hospital. Understanding the hospital's need to have all relevant information available, Arcomed AG has developed their IDMS, called UniQueCONCEPT™. As a logical consequence, the next level is interconnectivity and integration. As the leading provider of device connectivity, Capsule was the best choice we could offer our customers for integration because they have a proven solution that is compatible with all hospital information systems."

"Arcomed is an important partner for us," said Neil Henry, Product Manager of Capsule. "As a leading global provider of infusion pumps and infusion management solutions and as the number of clinical information systems integrating infusion pump data increases, Arcomed recognizes the importance of integrating timely infusion data directly into CIS and EMR systems as a way to help improve the quality and efficiency of patient care. Capsule is committed to increasing the number of medical devices that we support, and will continue to sign partnerships with industry leaders like Arcomed to help hospitals connect important medical device data into their clinical information systems. We are in active development of the device drivers for Arcomed's products with scheduled release for January, 2010."
