Seattle Cancer Care Alliance launches TheDayIFoundOut website for cancer patients

The day a person is diagnosed with cancer is one of the most difficult days of his or her life. While the Internet holds an endless supply of cancer related information, for an overwhelmed and frightened person, genuine emotional support is often hard to find. TheDayIFoundOut(TM) is an online community featuring the faces and voices of cancer survivors offering empathy, insight, advice and resources to help cancer patients take the first crucial steps toward beating their disease.

Launched in exclusive partnership with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (for the Pacific Northwest region), TheDayIFoundOut.com launched with 23 compelling videos of cancer survivors, young and old, describing in candid and emotional detail the fateful day of their diagnosis, how they found the strength to face their disease and where they turned for help. The videos provide hope, inspiration and useful information to create a pathway for people facing the beginning of the cancer journey.

The videos are categorized on the site to allow visitors to quickly find someone who went through what they are about to face. Currently the site profiles patients diagnosed with breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma, leukemia, lung cancer, prostate cancer, sarcoma and testicular cancer. The site plans to expand beyond the initial patients with additional videos from patients across the country.

TheDayIFoundOut.com is the brainchild of Copacino+Fujikado, an advertising agency based in Seattle. Says founder Betti Fujikado, "Cancer has touched each of our lives in one way or another and we wanted to do something about it. We realized that although there are volumes of information about cancer online, this information can be overwhelming and leave people feeling confused and lost. Our hope is TheDayIFoundOut.com will give folks a first place to turn and a source of genuine comfort in a very scary time."

Selected patients from the TheDayIFoundOut.com are also featured in online, radio and television commercials for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, as well as profiled on Seattle's KING-5 Evening Magazine.
