SonoSite launches Workflow Solutions for streamlining exam management of ultrasound studies

SonoSite, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONO), the world leader and specialist in hand-carried and point-of-care ultrasound, announced today the introduction of SonoSite® Workflow Solutions (SWS™), a suite of specialized tools designed to streamline exam management at the departmental level by giving physicians the ability to browse, manage and store ultrasound studies and generate reports suitable for billing and credentialing.

“SonoSite Workflow Solutions will be indispensable for any department performing quality assurance, and will save time for departments wanting control over their ultrasound studies,” said Dr. Alfredo Sabbaj, MD, MA, Assistant Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. “With the SWS program I can review and archive studies, credential and generate reports all in one place rather than having to use multiple programs in sequence or go through another department’s software to do the same thing. Also for teaching hospitals, SWS allows residents to get feedback on their studies faster, and the more feedback they get the quicker they learn.”

Patient information and ultrasound images can be quickly transferred to the SWS program over either a wireless or Ethernet connection and automatically pre-populate patient information forms built into SWS. The SWS program will support any number of user accounts within a department and is capable of importing ultrasound studies from multiple SonoSite systems. Simplified system administration also provides flexibility for managing users and audit logging user activity. The software operates on both PC and Macintosh® platforms and is server based—accessed within the department’s firewall via laptop or desktop using the local area network (LAN) available to specific departments.
