TogetherMD announced today Donna Shalala, President of the University of Miami and former Health and Human Services Secretary from 1993 - 2001, is the featured speaker for a candid discussion on health care reform in the United States. Ms. Shalala is well connected in Washington and with other critical stakeholders around the country. She will provide viewers with a unique view on health care reform in the United States.
Titled, "An Insider's Perspective on Health Care Reform: Why this time it's different," the discussion will include Donna Shalala, Dr. William O'Neill, the Executive Dean for Central Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at the University of Miami, and Larry Byrne, the founder and president of Byrne Healthcare.

A distinguished individual, Donna Shalala was appointed as the Secretary of Health and Human Services in 1993 by Bill Clinton. During her tenure, Ms. Shalala directed the welfare reform process that provided health insurance for an estimated 3.3 million children and raised child immunization rates to the highest levels in history. She also directed a major management and policy reform for Medicare, led reforms of the FDA's drug approval process and food safety system, and revitalized the National Institutes of Health. "Ms. Shalala is a leader who has special insight in terms of understanding how healthcare reform will affect our country," Larry added.
