The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), a not-for-profit pharmacy standards development organization, announced its upcoming Educational Summit, Looking Ahead: Healthcare in the Next Decade, November 3, 2009 in New Orleans. The summit will bring together professionals from all disciplines including physicians, regulatory compliance and pharmacy, and is designed for healthcare and pharmacy executives, senior management, physicians and other healthcare providers, and government agencies.
The summit will provide a compelling look at what the next 10 years holds for healthcare and the pharmacy industry. Topics include the Center for Health Transformation’s 21st Century Intelligent Pharmacy Project as well as perspectives on the medical home and incorporating the medical home into pharmacy. The presenters represent a cross-section of healthcare and include physicians and pharmacists from top health plans, academic medical centers. Featured presenters include:
- Wayne Oliver, Center for Health Transformation;
- Jeanne Scott, theJeanneScottletter; and
- James Owen, Pharm.D., American Pharmacists Association.

Pharmacists who attend this Educational Summit will be able to earn up to 5 Continuing Education (CE) Credits from the ACPE. CE Credit is being provided by AmerisourceBergen Corporation, an ACPE-approved provider of continuing pharmaceutical education.
