Department of Veterans Affairs selects Aquilent for health IT support

Aquilent, the recognized leading provider of Web-based solutions shaping the next generation of technology for the federal government, today announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has chosen Aquilent for two health IT support contracts valued at more than $2.7M combined. Under the terms of the contracts, Aquilent will provide healthcare revenue data migration and health risk assessment solutions.

Specifically, under the first contract, Aquilent will develop and execute a detailed strategy and plan for the migration of healthcare revenue data from existing systems to VA’s new Revenue Improvement and System Enhancements (RISE) solution. RISE is being implemented by the Veteran's Health Administration (VHA), one of the world's largest health care delivery organizations, to improve operational efficiencies and standardization for revenue cycle processes. Under the second contract, Aquilent will engage stakeholders to create a combined set of health assessment questions for VA and the Department of Defense (DoD), and prototype a combined Health Risk Assessment Instrument (HRAI). When implemented, this solution will give active duty service members, reserves, veterans, and their families direct access to health risk assessments which can be incorporated into Personal Health Records (PHR).

“The VA continues to demonstrate its leadership in enabling collaboration and participation in healthcare management for veterans, their families, and other VA stakeholders,” stated David Fout, President and CEO of Aquilent. “A solid health IT strategy is paramount to this approach and Aquilent is honored to have the opportunity to play a role in these new projects.”

These new contracts are part of the cumulative $13M in new business awarded to Aquilent during the final quarter of 2009, for a variety of web, technology strategy, and program management office solutions.
