MDI Healthcare Solutions partners with Wolfram|Alpha to reduce employers' healthcare costs

The ability to predict future costs for member care and disease management is a top concern for most self-insured employers. A collaboration between MDI Healthcare Solutions and Wolfram|Alpha , LLC will deliver a Predictive Index (PI) and ultimately reduce companies’ annual healthcare costs significantly.

MDI’s two-decade focus has been on medical solutions while Wolfram|Alpha’s computational knowledge engine has recently stepped into the spotlight. Wolfram|Alpha pairs its comprehensive knowledge base with artificial intelligence to answer questions in ways they have never been answered. For example, to determine the treatment cost for a specific diagnosis, data is gathered from patient history and analyzed against medical data to project future behaviors, and costs, in a matter of microseconds.

“Companies will be able to proactively target specific health care issues, which is better for the health of their bottom line as well as their members,” said MDI Healthcare Solutions President Ted Willich.

The new Predictive Index from MDI Healthcare Solutions is expected to be available next month. Licensing is underway to ensure its accessibility to clients around the globe.
