Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions, a leading provider of payroll-deducted voluntary benefits, is now covering vaccines including H1N1 (swine flu).
Coverage is provided to all Trustmark Critical Illness policyholders with our Health Screening Benefit.
H1N1 is a specific strain of the swine flu that has sickened 22 million in the United States this year. This season's flu shots will not give any immunity to H1N1, which is why a new vaccine was created.
"Because outbreaks of the H1N1 virus are expected to escalate, we want to proactively respond to the needs for H1N1 protection by covering the vaccine as soon as it becomes available," said Janet Buzil, Second Vice President at Trustmark and President of National Association of Critical Illness Insurance. "We hope it will help keep people flu-free and slow down the spread of H1N1."
While H1N1 is an immediate health risk for many American families, adding all immunizations to the Health Screening Benefit is another way to help policyholders maintain good health. The Health Screening Benefit also covers standard screening tests including mammography, Pap smear, serum cholesterol, PSA test for prostate cancer, stress test and colonoscopy.
"Our Health Screening Benefit educates employees and motivates them to adopt a healthier lifestyle to improve health and reduce absenteeism and medical costs," Buzil said.
Vaccine coverage is an enhancement available now for new and existing Critical Illness policyholders who have the Health Screening Benefit, at no additional cost. Vaccines have always been covered in our Wellness Benefit on Trustmark Accident policies.
