The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) recognized 10 academic medical center (AMC) members for their achievements in UHC's Supply Chain Optimization Program. The leaders of these 10 organizations are noted for modeling best practices in supply chain program participation.
The winners were determined using 2008 data and based on a calculation that includes contract portfolio participation and use of UHC resources.
Characteristics of UHC's Top 10 Award winners include:
- Optimization of supplier contracts with UHC and Novation, UHC's supply contracting company, and participation in standardization and private-label programs
- Use of the informatics tools and UHC programs that heighten visibility of the organization's purchasing activities and identify savings opportunities
- Supply chain leadership that focuses on efficiency and cost reduction while ensuring end-user satisfaction
"We congratulate the top 10 performers for their outstanding achievements. They represent organizations that optimize the programs and savings through UHC and serve as role models for other AMCs," said Jake Groenewold, vice president, Supply Chain Services.
The Top 10 Awards were presented by UHC's service delivery team at the UHC Supply Chain & Clinical Resources Council meeting, an educational and networking event held in Denver in October 2009.
