What: An expert
specializing in communications to the general public on the scientific
techniques for assessing and interpreting the significance of human
exposure to natural and synthetic chemicals is available to provide
comment and analysis on the upcoming report on biomonitoring by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For information on the
upcoming CDC report see http://www.cdc.gov/exposurereport/.
When: Now and
following the release of the CDC biomonitoring report scheduled for
December 10, 2009.
Who: Prof. Emeritus
Ronald D. Hood is a recognized expert on toxicology and long-time
educator at the University of Alabama. Prof. Hood recently published an
explanation of “toxicity thresholds,” a key concept for understanding
biomonitoring, including the results of the new CDC report (see on www.biomonitoringinfo.org).
Prof. Hood serves as a member of the Science Advisory Council of the
Biomonitoring Info website (http://www.biomonitoringinfo.org/SAC.html),
which includes experts who are medical doctors, university researchers
and independent scientists. The website provides comprehensive
information on the biomonitoring science and the use of biomonitoring
information.
