ASSIST-CARD, the largest and most complete travelers' assistance and insurance network in the world, and Sky Limo Air Charter, a full-service aviation company based in Fort Lauderdale, has teamed up with the Tim Hardaway Foundation and the Best of South Florida television show to bring Haiti an unlimited supply of clean drinking water - one of the top two necessities - to help facilitate disaster relief efforts.
"We are proud to be able to quickly facilitate help in a time of crisis with the resources our international company has in place and our capability to call on global partners," said Keith St. Clair, managing director ASSIST-CARD USA. "This collaborative effort is a natural partnership, as the Tim Hardaway Foundation has been providing assistance to Haitian residents for years and Sky Limo Air Charter and Best of South Florida are exceptional partners for this venture."
Three reverse osmosis water desalinization machines will be flown from Fort Lauderdale via one of Sky Limo Air Charter's fleet of aircrafts. Once in Haiti, the machines will desalinate and clean both ocean water and well water, resulting in more than 10,000 gallons of drinking water each day.
"Sky Limo Air Charter has been providing numerous flights to Haiti, transporting vital supplies and personnel to assist in relief efforts. Realizing that it's not practical to continue to haul massive amounts of water, we believe that the water filtration system will do more to provide a long-term solution to Haiti's on-going water problem," says Tom Conlan, president of Sky Limo Air Charter. "Healthy living requires clean drinking water and we are honored to be able to assist where help is needed," adds Conlan.
"We are delighted to provide support to this partnership and help bring aid to a worthwhile cause in a critical time of need," said Jessie Alexander, co-host of Best of South Florida.
For years, the Tim Hardaway Foundation has focused efforts on giving a voice to the voiceless in Haiti. By funding the construction of homes for impoverished families, the charity has been able to establish livable conditions and give many children a healthy life to look forward to on the island. "As our foundation's focus has surrounded the children of Haiti, we are committed to our mission of helping alleviate the suffering in Haiti, especially in the aftermath of this natural disaster through the partnership with ASSIST-CARD, Sky Limo Air Charter and the Best of South Florida," said Tim Hardaway, Tim Hardaway Foundation.
