FDA releases key findings of nation's dietary habits in Health and Diet Survey

More than half of consumers in the United States often read the food label when buying a product for the first time. These consumers are also increasingly aware of the link between diet and heart disease.

Those are among the key findings that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released from its latest Health and Diet Survey, a snapshot of the nation's dietary habits.

FDA released findings from the 2008 telephone survey of more than 2,500 adults in every state and the District of Columbia on March 2, 2010.

    Consumers may read labels but understanding them is a whole different matter, as for being more aware of heart disease etc, awareness and knowledge are worlds apart. If consumers were savvier about their health then why do we have 60% of adults in the US either overweight or obese?

    The only reason we are seeing a downturn in coronary mortality is medical and pharmacological interventions not common sense and better understanding of our health. We need to understand that its survival of the fittest not the fattest i think the dyslexics confuse the “A”.
