NDSsi launches ZeroWire Full HD video solution for minimally-invasive surgery

NDS Surgical Imaging (NDSsi) today announced the launch of ZeroWire®, a medical-grade wireless Full HD video solution for minimally-invasive surgery, GI and interventional suites. Customers in the European Union (EU) will be offered this high-technology video solution which is customized to meet the video transmission challenges of the operating room. NDSsi has plans to also launch its ZeroWire solution in the United States and Asia-Pacific regions in the coming months.

“Customers have expressed a strong desire for a wireless solution”

NDSsi is authorized to offer its ZeroWire system to the European market in a three channel configuration. This configuration allows for up to three ZeroWire wireless video systems to function in the same operating room, providing a new level of mobility and flexibility for integrated OR applications.

The ZeroWire system provides reliable communication with less than 1 frame latency and image quality required for today’s multi-modality imaging environments, delivering full high-definition surgical video in real time which utilizes the UWB frequency spectrum. This wireless system, designed especially for the OR, has been developed to improve clinical efficacy and safety by eliminating delays from disconnected or damaged cables and reducing the cleaning period between procedures.

Some of the features and benefits of the ZeroWire wireless video solution include:

  • Memory-enabled pairing system that makes installation quick and easy
  • Medical grade image quality with full high-definition video (1080p60)
  • Ultra-low latency of less than 1 frame for real time surgical video
  • Designed and tested in accordance with applicable standards to not interfere with other equipment in the OR
  • Signal reliability by virtue of a wide radio frequency band
  • Interfaces to a wide range of image sources and surgical monitors in the OR
  • Up to three ZeroWire systems can co-exist in the same environment
  • Compliant with the EU safety standards

“Customers have expressed a strong desire for a wireless solution,” said Kees Poot, Vice President and General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa at NDSsi. “This new technology meets the needs of today’s demanding OR environments with a practical and effective solution.”

As a medical visualization innovator, NDSsi strives to enable new clinical imaging solutions and fuel collaborative medicine. ZeroWire is central to this mission as a core platform within the company’s Medical Visualization Informatics (MVI) offering, which helps drive procedural efficacy in the OR by offering the unique ability to connect the realms of PACS imaging, surgical video and medical informatics.
