HCCMIS selected as nominee for 2010 Techpoint MIRA Awards

HCC Medical Insurance Services, LLC (HCCMIS) has been selected as a nominee for the 2010 Techpoint MIRA Awards.  Now in its 11th year, the MIRA Awards acknowledge advancements made by businesses, schools and individuals in technology-related industries.

Nominated for their innovative use of Social Media within the highly regulated healthcare industry, HCCMIS is thankful for the nomination and what it could mean for business.  "The MIRA Award nomination validates the dedicated efforts of our team.  For several months we have been actively building business relationships through Social Media, and to be nominated for our efforts means we are succeeding," says HCCMIS President and CEO Mark Carney.

The Houston Business Journal recognized HCCMIS in December 2009 for its bold strides into Social Media.  In that article, Muhammad Yasin, HCCMIS Claims and Client Relations Manager states, "We want to enhance the healthcare experience related to insurance with the deeply personal and timely communication style people have become accustomed to through social media."

In recent months, HCCMIS has incorporated the use of social technology into its daily operations.  Based on ideas discovered while instant messaging with customers and agents, HCCMIS created a social persona on their website, HCCMedical.com, in the form of an Online Travel Concierge named Eva, who provides services to customers as they prepare for an international journey.  Eva interacts via Live Chat, Twitter, and answers frequently asked questions directly from the website.

The 2010 MIRA Awards Gala scheduled for Saturday, May 15, 2010.
