ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, has been awarded a new contract by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH), to conduct the School Health Policies and Practices Study (SHPPS) 2012. The contract's term is for 32 months and has a value of $7.2 million.
“The information collected by this study will be used at the national, state, and local levels to assess and shape the future of school health programs.”
Under terms of the contract, ICF International will collect data on eight elements of a comprehensive school health program from state agencies in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia and from a nationally representative sample of school districts, schools, and classrooms. ICF International previously conducted SHPPS in 1994 and 2006.
"The award of this contract continues our long history of working with DASH. To continue building on the relationships and knowledge base established during the fielding of SHPPS 2006 is an exciting endeavor," said James Ross, senior vice president for ICF International. "The information collected by this study will be used at the national, state, and local levels to assess and shape the future of school health programs."
Conducted every six years, SHPPS is the largest, most comprehensive assessment of school health programs in the United States, collecting information on healthy and safe school environment, health education, physical education and activity, health services, mental health and social services, nutrition services, faculty and staff health promotion, and family and community involvement. SHPPS 2012 will be conducted using a combination of Web-based data collection and computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) survey technologies.
