Games for Life wins British Airways Business Opportunity Grant

Games for Life, a Tucson-based non-profit organization has won a British Airways Business Opportunity Grant which includes ten international flights and five international freight shipments.  To elaborate on why Games for Life was chosen, Melissa Fernandez of British Airways replied that, "We really believe in your company.  You strongly demonstrated how the ability to have face-to-face meetings throughout the year will help you achieve your goals…".

Games for Life develops and distributes Game for the World™, an educational suite of board games which facilitates discussions about health and well-being issues.  To date, it has produced an HIV/AIDS educational game in Spanish, French and four African languages.  Games on substance abuse, diabetes and obesity are in the design phases.  International organizations including CARE, Save the Children, World Vision and YWCA have embraced the HIV/AIDS game and it is currently being used in 34 countries.

Games for Life recently signed a licensing agreement with Mexican youth leadership organization,  Foro Jovenes con Liderazgo (FJL), granting FJL the rights to have 200 games produced.  FJL plans to use the games to facilitate HIV/AIDS early-detection workshops throughout Mexico.

Games for Life plans to exhibit at the International AIDS Conference in Vienna this year, where it will introduce the game to world leaders in the HIV/AIDS prevention field.

Anne Harman, Executive Director of Games for Life says :

"We are thrilled with the opportunity that this grant provides! We are seeking donations to provide for the manufacture of 3,000 games; the grant will enable us to deliver those games to areas where they are most needed, including Latin America, India and Africa.  We invite individuals who want to make a difference in world health to partner with us through donations, large or small.  Public support toward realizing our initial fund-raising goal of $50,000 will open the doors for sponsorship from corporations that are able to fund the manufacture and distribution of the games worldwide in the future."

Donations to the 501(c)3 corporation Games for Life can be made online at http://www.gamefortheworld.com or in the form of a check, made payable to Games for Life and mailed to 730 N Plumer Avenue, Tucson 85719.
