This Partnership is in Concert with Castro's First Ever Headlining Tour
Atlantic recording artist Jason Castro was introduced to Malaria No More while still an American Idol finalist through the Idol Gives Back charity program, and was shocked to learn that thousands of kids die every day from a disease that's completely preventable and treatable. Malaria No More announces today that Castro has entered the malaria fight as the inaugural "Stayin' Alive" Ambassador, joining a talented list of celebrities who have supported Malaria No More, including Ashton Kutcher, Forest Whitaker, and American Idols Melinda Doolittle and Elliot Yamin, among others.
"I'm excited to join Malaria No More's efforts and show our students how they can help," said Jason Castro. "I was personally surprised to learn that malaria continues to be an epidemic in parts of the world, so I'm thrilled to do whatever I can to raise awareness of the continuing fight against this disease."
The "Stayin' Alive" campaign is Malaria No More's flagship grassroots movement, focused on empowering American students to fight malaria through school dances and other events. To kick off the partnership, a pair of tickets to each of Castro's upcoming concerts, as well as an introduction to the star, will be available for auction to further benefit Malaria No More's cause. Concert tour dates and auction details will be available at www.MalariaNoMore.org.
"Jason's enthusiasm and popularity make him a great ambassador for the 'Stayin' Alive' program, which engages high school students across the country to join the effort to end malaria deaths," said Malaria No More CEO Scott Case. "Jason first learned about malaria in 2008, and now he's inspiring kids to do all they can to help families in Africa protect themselves from the deadly disease."
Castro recently announced plans for his first-ever headlining tour, kicking off in his home state of Texas on April 17th and running through mid-May. The cross-country trek comes on the heels of releasing his debut album, "JASON CASTRO," which arrives April 13th.
