Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District purchases QuadraMed CPR EHR solution

QuadraMed® Corporation today announced that Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District in Brawley, Calif., has selected the QuadraMed CPR (QCPR™) electronic health record (EHR) solution and several other QuadraMed applications to help improve the quality of patient care, increase operational efficiencies and enhance revenues. Also included in the purchase are QuadraMed's identity management, enterprise scheduling, revenue management and nurse-staffing management solutions.

“The clinical and systems references obtained during our site visits were one of the bigger selling points for QuadraMed”

For the past few years, Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, which includes a 107-bed acute-care facility, as well as a remote Health Center, Occupational Health Center, Wound Therapy Center and Physical Therapy department, has used QuadraMed's Affinity Clinicals to improve access to patient records. The healthcare district's positive experience with this solution, along with the excellent service received from QuadraMed, helped persuade them to upgrade to QCPR and invest further in QuadraMed's solutions. QCPR SmartStart's accelerated implementation plan was a key factor in their decision-making process, as it will help Pioneers meet "meaningful use" requirements in time to qualify for federal economic stimulus funds.

Prior to their purchase, Pioneers embarked on a rigorous selection process that emphasized the needs and preferences of its clinical professionals. The selection team hired a consulting group (HIS Professionals LLC), to guide the process, and review many leading hospital EHRs. In the end, Pioneers rejected other solutions citing cost and lack of key integration features. Positive feedback about QCPR during site visits to hospitals and health systems that used the solution clinched Pioneers' decision to invest in QuadraMed.

"The clinical and systems references obtained during our site visits were one of the bigger selling points for QuadraMed," commented Doug Darby, Director of Information Systems, CIO, Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District. "End users at other medical facilities praised QCPR highly. We also consulted with our physicians, nurses and others, who all agreed the solution would work best in our environment. As a result, we believe QuadraMed is the right fit to improve the safety and quality of care for our patients, while enabling Pioneers to qualify for government health I.T. incentives."

"When choosing an EHR solution, healthcare providers must be assured that their clinicians will adopt and be comfortable using the system, while satisfying ARRA meaningful-use criteria to receive the maximum Federal incentives," said Duncan W. James, CEO of QuadraMed. "QCPR is a solid and proven EHR, rich in functionality, which meets both key purchasing requirements. We look forward to a long relationship with Pioneers Memorial to help them achieve and sustain clinical performance objectives, while improving financial results."
