AHA Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of The American Hospital Association (AHA), today announced the launch of its 2010 Patient Flow Challenges Assessment (PFCA). The PFCA measures a range of critical issues across eight key stages of the patient flow process: pre-admission, admission, diagnostics, procedures, treatment, recovery, discharge, post-discharge and Home. Data from the survey is compiled into a report that provides valuable insights into the leading patient throughput and capacity management challenges facing today's hospitals.
“Facilitating communication and sharing of experiences among health care leaders helps improve the delivery of patient care.”
Assessment participants share obstacles they face in the development and implementation of patient flow processes and technologies while learning about the experiences of hospital peers. Those who complete the survey will receive the 2010 PFCA report and an invitation to attend an AHA Solutions webinar featuring a discussion of the report's important findings.
AHA Solutions develops educational programs for health care leaders based on the results of initiatives such as the PFCA. With this data, AHA Solutions is able to target innovative products and services that best address the top concerns of health care leaders, enable maximum patient flow efficiencies and support improved patient quality. "We have a unique vantage point in health care," observes Anthony Burke, CEO of AHA Solutions. "Facilitating communication and sharing of experiences among health care leaders helps improve the delivery of patient care."
Hospitals are committed to patient safety and quality improvements and the focus on health care reform has spurred the goal of delivering the highest level of patient care. "Health care reform demands immediate improvements in operational efficiency and mandates safety in order for an organization to serve its community. This survey helps identify the challenges hospitals are facing so we can provide the appropriate resources to address them. We encourage the chief nursing executive or the chair of the patient flow committee in every hospital to make sure that their voice is counted," said Mary Longe, Director of Patient Flow at AHA Solutions.
The assessment and results are available to hospital staff. Visit AHA Solutions' website at www.aha-solutions.org for more information and to take the survey. The assessment is open until Friday, June 4th.
