President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai and Senior Executive Vice-President Hwung-Hweng Hwung of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, had lunch date with seven students at 12 pm, June 11th, in Student Cafeteria, Kuang-Fu Campus.
“Based on students satisfaction survey, judging from the service attitude of staff, meal quantity and meal price, the satisfaction of teachers and students for the Student Cafeteria has elevated. About 90% of the students indicated that they'll continue to dine in the Student Cafeteria.”
NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, Senior Executive Vice-President Hwung-Hweng Hwung, Vice-President Bih-Ching Shu for Student Affairs, Division Chief Meng-Li Chen of Housing Services Division, Director Tsung-Hsueh Lu of Health Center and Division Chief Shih-Wei Han of Extracurricular Activities Division have arrived at Student Cafeteria to understand the dinning environment and service, the types of meal that are offered as well as the hygiene management.
They have joined students in the lineup for the buffet and participated in the point collection event organized by Health Center, Office of Student Affairs. Even though President Lai has chosen dishes from the "Low Fat, High Fiber" area, with soup, fruits and dessert, the total calorie of the meal has reached 635 cal. The nutritionist has recommended President Lai to eat less during dinner and control his daily calorie between 1,500 and 2,000 cal.
During lunch time, President Lai has inquired students about their opinions on the cafeteria's meals, prices and sanitary conditions. He has asked about their academic performance, club activities and future plan after graduation, as well as expectations for the university. In addition to eating daintily, President Lai has also stressed the importance of exercising regularly.
Division Chief Meng-Li Chen of Housing Services Division, who is responsible for the planning of student cafeteria, revealed, "Based on students satisfaction survey, judging from the service attitude of staff, meal quantity and meal price, the satisfaction of teachers and students for the Student Cafeteria has elevated. About 90% of the students indicated that they'll continue to dine in the Student Cafeteria."
Students generally agreed that even though it's common that students dine outside of school, the price at Student Cafeteria is reasonable and the sanitary conditions at the cafeteria are better than that of the restaurants outside school. The Student Cafeteria is also more convenient for students who live in dormitories. The dining environment and atmosphere of the Student Cafeteria have improved and the varieties and flavors of dishes have increased as well.
Before their departure, President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai has reminded the buffet owner to pay extra attention to the sanitary conditions of the meals that are provided to students and Senior Executive Vice-President Hwung-Hweng Hwung has expected the owner to give back to students and offer special discounts to students from less fortunate families.
