ACR Image Metrix™, an imaging contract research organization (CRO) with expertise in imaging research design, techniques and data extraction, congratulates their partner, iCAD, Inc., on obtaining U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance on its VeraLook™, Colon CAD (Computer-Aided Detection) software.
“We are excited to have partnered with iCAD to conduct this important clinical study”
iCAD, Inc., an industry-leading provider of advanced image analysis and workflow solutions, partnered with ACR Image Metrix to conduct a large reader study of the company's Colon CAD software, which resulted in FDA clearance for iCAD.
"We are very excited about receiving this FDA clearance for our CAD software, VeraLook. The partnership with ACR Image Metrix was extremely effective and greatly assisted us in achieving clearance," stated Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for iCAD, Inc., John A. DeLucia.
ACR Image Metrix served as the imaging CRO for the multi-reader clinical study to determine whether the addition of CAD to CT colonography enabled radiologists to detect potentially cancerous polyps more effectively. CT colonography employs cutting-edge, pattern recognition technology to produce three-dimensional "fly through" images permitting a thorough and minimally invasive evaluation of the entire colorectal structure for cancer and precancerous polyps. The CAD system highlights these areas on the images, alerting the radiologist to the possible need for further analysis.
"We are excited to have partnered with iCAD to conduct this important clinical study," stated Michael J. Morales, ACR Image Metrix general manager. "Our organizations have natural synergy relating to the use of imaging technologies as predictive and prognostic tools. The delivery of the data to their organization allows for the further development of solutions that truly impact patient diagnosis and outcomes."
