Core Dynamics receives USD grant to develop Freeze Dried blood unit

CORE DYNAMICS announced today that it has recently received a 2 Million USD grant from the US Army. The US Army Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), has selected Core Dynamics to lead its effort on the development of a Freeze Dried blood unit for future use in the battle field.

“We are the first company to successfully freeze dry hematopoietic stem cells and demonstrate their ability to grow and differentiate in culture after rehydration”

The first phase of the project will focus on production of small quantities of high quality freeze dried red blood cells; at the end of this stage the Company will be able to demonstrate the function of these cells in an established in-vivo trauma resuscitation model.

Core Dynamics is a leader in the field of cell and tissue preservation. "We are the first company to successfully freeze dry hematopoietic stem cells and demonstrate their ability to grow and differentiate in culture after rehydration," said Dr. Amir Arav, the Founder and Chief Scientist of Core Dynamics.

It is the Army's intention to fund this project all the way through FDA approval.

"For the next 2 years our team will focus on meeting the goals and objectives we have set under this program that will ultimately result in individual freeze dried blood units that can be carried into the battle field and, upon rehydration with sterile water, transfused. This will significantly reduce mortality rates," stated Dr. Sachi Norman, CEO of Core Dynamics
