Oscar-winning actor George Clooney contracted malaria during a trip to Sudan earlier this month, but is now fully cured. Clooney, 49, had visited Sudan earlier and on this trip was helping draw attention to a historic referendum on independence for residents of the mainly Christian south.
His spokesman said, “George is completely over the malaria he contracted while in the Sudan during the first week in January… This was his second bout with it.”
Piers Morgan broke the news with a tweet while taping an episode of his show. He said, “George Clooney has contracted malaria following a recent trip to Sudan, it’s his second bout of malaria.
Speaking through his representative, Clooney said, “This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa can be reduced to a bad 10 days instead of a death.”
