EndyMed Medical, Ltd., www.endymed.com, a leader in the use of multi-source radiofrequency for professional aesthetic treatments, announced today the publication of the latest peer reviewed paper on 3DEEP radiofrequency technology, "A novel method for real-time skin impedance measurement during radiofrequency skin tightening treatments". This article was published in the March 2011 issue of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 10, Issue 1, pages 24-29, March 2011).
EndyMed Medical has uniquely documented the advantages of skin impedance measurements as a necessary component in the delivery of predictable results when using radiofrequency energy in aesthetic medicine procedures. The ability of EndyMed PRO, EndyMed's flagship product, to perform real time skin impedance measurements using proprietary 3DEEP RF technology, means that skin treatments performed with this device will typically have more predictable results.
"Our results confirm previous data which showed that skin impedance is highly variable between individual patients. We found that skin impedance varies in the same person on different days, and even during the same treatment procedure," said Yoram Harth, MD, a dermatologist, a founder of EndyMed Medical and one of the authors of the article. "The real time impedance measurement implemented in the EndyMed PRO device allows optimal delivery of energy to the patient's skin independent of any changes in impedance, which increases the predictability of results."
According to EndyMed CEO, Uzi Blumensohn, "Most RF treatment systems on the market cannot customize energy delivery to changes in skin impedance. We believe that our built-in impedance measurement mechanism is a major advantage for the patients and physicians, globally, using EndyMed PRO."
Among the key highlights of this paper are the following points:
- More than 6,000 unique skin impedance measurements on 22 patients were taken to substantiate the conclusions of this peer reviewed paper.
- Data showed an average session impedance range was 215-584 Ohms with an average of 369 Ohms. Analysis of individual pulses (total of 6,000 readings) showed a significant decrease in impedance during the pulse. These findings validate the expected differences in skin impedance between individual patients and in the same patients during the treatment pulse.
- The clinical study was based on 30 patients whose results showed a high predictability of efficacy (86.7% of patients had good results or better at 3 months follow-up and a decrease of 2 or more grades in Fitzpatrick's wrinkle scale).
EndyMed Medical's proprietary 3DEEP RF technology is a multi-source, phase-controlled radiofrequency energy source that is state-of-the-art, safe and effective. 3DEEP represents the latest development in the evolution of RF-based professional skin treatment systems. 3DEEP uses multiple RF sources and sophisticated software to effectively control the phase of the energy flowing between the handpiece electrodes. This method enables delivery of controlled heat deep into the skin, in a non-ablative or fractionally ablative way. 3DEEP technology is used in products which are FDA cleared and CE marked.
