Genencor, a division of Danisco A/S, announced today that the company was ranked #7 on the list of The Netherlands Great Places to Work® 2011 in the category of "Large & Multinational Companies" by the Great Place to Work® Institute. More than 100 companies competed in the category, with Genencor being one of only 24 companies that were selected as nominees in this category. Even though a first time participant, Genencor was ranked highest among newcomers to the prestigious survey.
Each year, the Great Place to Work® Institute honors exceptional workplaces in more than 40 countries. Companies are selected primarily on the basis of employees' opinions. Responses to an employee survey comprise two-thirds of an organization's score and are compiled in a "Trust Index". Participating organizations also complete a survey about the company's personnel management practices, which are then combined in a "Culture Audit."
"We are honored to be selected as one of the top 10 best places to work, especially given the competition we were up against," said Alexander van de Meeberg, Manager Human Resources for Genencor in The Netherlands "This is the first time our company entered this prestigious awards competition in The Netherlands, and we are especially proud that we were the highest-ranking newcomer. This is a testament to Genencor's strong commitment to investing in our people."
In 2010, Genencor's Jämsänkoski Finland production facility was one of the few biotechnology companies to make the institute's list of Finland's Best Places to Work. In 2005, Genencor received the institute's top honor as the #1 Best Place to Work in the U.S. for small- and medium-sized companies; that same year, the San Francisco Chronicle recognized Genencor's Palo Alto's site as the Bay Area's Best company to work for.
