Nordic Naturals® has earned certification from NSF International, verifying that its new LEED-designed corporate headquarters complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as set forth in NSF/ANSI Standard 173-2008, Dietary Supplements, Section 8. Nordic Naturals' former facility was also GMP certified, however new certification was required when the company moved its headquarters in February of this year. NSF audits businesses every six months in order to maintain their certification. Nordic Naturals' current GMP certification is available to view at NSF's website.
NSF International serves public health on a global scale. The independent organization offers certification programs and develops standards for dietary supplements, food, water, and a wide range of consumer products. NSF also independently certifies companies who meet GMP requirements and offers an NSF Certified for Sport® Program, also known as the NSF Athletic Banned Substances Certification program, which is the only nationally accredited program of its kind. Nordic Naturals' Ultimate Omega® Sport is the first omega-3 fish oil to be included in the NSF Certified for Sport® Program.
The Program's rigorous testing and certification process verifies that Ultimate Omega Sport fully complies with current NSF standards, and that athletes can enjoy Ultimate Omega Sport without unknowingly consuming banned or prohibited substances or their metabolites. The NSF Certified for Sport® Program tests and certifies nutritional supplements used by athletes in Major League Baseball, Professional Golf Association, Ladies Professional Golf Association, and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport. According to Joar Opheim, CEO of Nordic Naturals, "NSF's exceptional commitment to public safety is in line with our own values and Nordic Naturals' mission to deliver pure, safe, and effective omega oils worldwide." Along with its NSF certification, Nordic Naturals' new headquarters is also registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) project and is slated for LEED Gold certification which recognizes performance in key areas of human and environmental health.
