Pakistan has one of the highest rates of tuberculosis (TB) in the world, with nearly 70,000 TB-related deaths each year, Al-Jazeera English reports. Though the government has spent "tens of millions of dollars" over the past decade to treat the disease, "the WHO says [it] is still 'highly epidemic.'" One of the country's biggest challenges is providing widespread treatment and education to those most at risk (Tyab, 6/19).
