West End Orthopaedic Clinic has announced that they are changing the name of their practice to OrthoVirginia (www.orthovirginia.com). Coinciding with the name change will be the opening of a new facility completely dedicated to orthopedic specialty care and sports medicine, at the Boulders near Chippenham Hospital (Richmond).
“While our name is changing, what stays the same are the hallmarks of our practice that we are known for - including an unparalleled group of physician specialists and supporting experts who make up one of the most focused and cohesive medical specialty teams in the region”
The new name more accurately reflects the many locations the practice serves throughout central Virginia, as well as the total range of high-quality specialty orthopedic care and services available through the practice. The new facility reinforces the practice's commitment to total quality care for each patient.
"While our name is changing, what stays the same are the hallmarks of our practice that we are known for - including an unparalleled group of physician specialists and supporting experts who make up one of the most focused and cohesive medical specialty teams in the region," said Anthony J. Shaia, M.D., president of OrthoVirginia.
The Chippenham location will provide patients with a new state-of-the-art facility that brings orthopedic patient care all under one roof. Services will include diagnosis and treatment of a range of orthopedic issues, physical therapy, occupational therapy and imaging. An outpatient surgical facility will open at this location in 2012.
The new Boulders building will also be the future home of the HCA Virginia Sports Medicine Clinic, scheduled to open in 2012. With the addition of this clinic, the facility will offer even more services - including wellness, performance training, sports medicine and an unparalleled sports assessment facility.
OrthoVirginia is an independent group of highly trained and hospital/insurance company-credentialed orthopedic physician specialists and qualified staff who serve patients at 11 office locations. The practice employs more than 350 clinical, technical, paraprofessional, support and administrative personnel in Virginia. Sites include satellite offices in New Kent and Emporia, as well as fully staffed clinics in Farmville and Kilmarnock. OrthoVirginia currently offers 40 physician specialists in multiple subspecialties.
OrthoVirginia also offers Ortho After Hours, with after-hours treatment at its St. Francis and St. Mary's (Richmond) sites. These clinics provide a cost-effective alternative to emergency room visits for individuals with non-life-threatening orthopedic conditions requiring immediate care. Two new Ortho After Hours clinics are planned to open later this year.
