Medtronic launches mobile application for implantable cardiac devices

Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) today announced the launch of Medtronic's first mobile application for use with implantable cardiac devices. As health care shifts care delivery from outpatient to home, Medtronic is leading the implantable cardiac device industry by offering cutting-edge technology designed to give physicians greater flexibility in monitoring patient data.

The CareLink^™ Mobile Application allows clinicians to access cardiac device diagnostic and patient data directly from their mobile devices. This mobile application provides a new access point for the same data found on the CareLink^® Network today. This new application allows clinicians to review Medtronic CareAlert^® transmissions and a patient's last transmission anytime, anywhere. Clinicians can then triage clinical events and take action as needed.

The CareLink Network is the industry's leading remote monitoring system that provides comprehensive data received from the remote monitoring of patients implanted with Medtronic cardiac devices. The CareLink Network provides similar in-depth device information as an office visit for Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) and Implantable Cardiac Monitors (ICMs) while providing both health care providers and patients the convenience of telemedicine. With access to alert transmissions via the CareLink Mobile Application, health care providers can now manage their patients anytime and anywhere.
