The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria on Tuesday announced that programs it supports have distributed 190 million insecticide-treated bed nets to protect families from malaria since 2003, according to mid-year results, a Global Fund press release notes. "Of these, 70 million bed nets were distributed in the past twelve months, since June 2010. Assuming a bed net protects two people, enabling an estimated 140 million more people to protect themselves against malaria," the press release states. The release also discusses other mid-year results on HIV, malaria and tuberculosis (6/28).
