ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, has won a new contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional Development Mission for Asia to support the Low Emissions Asian Development (LEAD) program. The contract has a value of $21.5 million and a term of five years.
“ICF is poised to support USAID and other clients in delivering integrated, proven strategies for lowering emissions”
The scope of ICF's work will be to help Asian governments, businesses, and others develop and strengthen the policies, institutions, resources, and skills needed for sustained low emissions development. The program will also help governments prepare national greenhouse gas inventories—detailed reports summarizing total carbon emissions from all major economic sectors. LEAD also aims to expand carbon market investment in Asia by working with the private sector to prepare corporate inventories and participate in these markets. The program will promote regional knowledge sharing and experiences, and ultimately build a cadre of local experts for carbon accounting services.
"ICF is poised to support USAID and other clients in delivering integrated, proven strategies for lowering emissions," said David Hathaway, vice president for ICF International. "ICF is honored to support the LEAD program, which allows us to share a considerable body of accumulated expertise with USAID's partners in up to 11 Asian countries and to continue our longstanding relationship with USAID. We've played an active role in the international response to issues of climate change and the reducing of emissions for the past two decades, focusing initially in the U.S., and more recently throughout the world as we've grown our international offices and capabilities."
"The LEAD project is key to focusing ICF's strategy on global markets in the areas of health, energy, and environment," said ICF International Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sudhakar Kesavan. "We offer to our clients worldwide a great wealth of experience in these fields and we look forward to working with them to achieve positive outcomes as we address some of the most important issues facing the world today."
