Over 6,000 Australians joined ‘Weigh it Up Australia’

Weigh it Up Australia re-launched its FREE online healthy living program last Sunday with more than 6,000 Australians signing up to join the program within the first three days. Weigh it Up’s new website offers new and existing members access to more experts and 2 new ways to participate in its healthy living program.

1) Weigh it Up’s 8 Week Spring Weight Loss Challenge will get people on the road to improved health and wellness with an 8 week food and fitness program – this is a free program which people can join at any time and start the 8 week program when it best suits them; members can then choose to move on to Weigh it Up’s maintenance program; 2) Healthy Habits for Life, also free for members, this program is designed to further educate, reinforce and keep members on track with a D.I.Y. healthy living program.

Sunday saw 4,000 Australians joining Weigh it Up’s existing 55,000 strong members to eat, walk and talk their way to healthier living, so far this week another 1200 people have also signed up. Last year, Weigh It Up’s 55,000 members committed to losing more than 250,000 kilos in 2010, in 2011 Weigh it Up Australia is targeting to grow to more than 90,000 members with the 8 week spring weight loss challenge the perfect time for people to kick start healthier living. 

Health Food Innovator and Weigh it Up expert Julie White says that forward planning will be key to successful weight loss throughout the first 8 weeks, “0rganization and preparation will save you time and limit any temptations later on.  We want to help our members get on track as quickly as possible so we’ve done all of the work ahead of time to offer members weekly menu plans; new recipes each week and shopping lists to download giving them the tools they need for success.”

“We also want to help educate people on how to plan healthier meals for themselves and their families, Weigh it Up offers a menu planning option on the website so members can create their own weekly plans and choose recipes for themselves,” said Julie.

Joining Julie on the Weigh it Up panel is an expert team of healthy living professionals including Giaan Rooney, Healthy Living Ambassador; Barbara Macciolli, Allergy Friendly Cooking Expert ; Alison Potts, Naturopath; Simone Austin, Accredited and Practising Dietician and new to the team this year, Emily Boylin, Weigh it Up’s Fitness Expert.
