Olympus releases Acecide-C High-Level Disinfectant and Sterilant

Olympus, a precision technology leader in designing and delivering innovative solutions in Medical and Surgical Products, among other core businesses, announces the release of Acecide^®-C, a new, peracetic acid-based high-level disinfectant and sterilant. Designed exclusively for use in the Olympus Endoscope Reprocessor, the OER-Pro, Acecide-C provides high-level disinfection in just seven minutes, making it the fastest-acting, room-temperature peracetic acid solution on the market.

Co-developed by Olympus and Saraya Co., Ltd. (manufactured by Best Sanitizers, Inc.), Acecide-C High-Level Disinfectant and Sterilant is an aldehyde-free, liquid chemical germicide designed for exclusive use with the OER-Pro. It has been tested and approved by Olympus for material compatibility with the OER-Pro and Olympus flexible endoscopes. With a20°C (68°F) use temperature, Acecide-C protects equipment using non-heated chemistry while saving on energy costs and reducing the overall OER-Pro cycle time to just 26 minutes.

Further time-saving convenience is provided by Acecide-C's unique, easy-to-handle cassette bottles, which deliver quicker and easier loading while minimizing staff exposure to the disinfectant thus increasing safety for the operator. In addition, time-saving test strips can check the solution's efficacy in just 13 seconds. Acecide-C, once loaded into the OER-Pro, can be used up to five days or when the minimum recommended concentration of 2000 ppm has been reached, whichever comes first.
