Springer, Belgian Neurological Society collaborate to publish Acta Neurologica Belgica

Acta Neurologica Belgica moves to international STM publisher

Springer and the Belgian Neurological Society will collaborate to publish the journal Acta Neurologica Belgica (ANB). Founded in 1900, ANB is the second-oldest neurological publication in Europe. The first volume with Springer, Vol. 112, No. 1, will be published in March 2012. It was formerly published by Publications Acta Medica Belgica.

Peer-reviewed and published quarterly, Acta Neurologica Belgica presents original papers, review articles and case reports in the clinical and basic neurosciences. It also reports on the proceedings and the abstracts of the scientific meetings of its eight affiliated societies. The journal is read by clinical neuroscientists as well as basic neuroscientists and psychiatrists. Jean Schoenen of the University Hospital Sart Tilman in Liege, Belgium, is editor-in-chief. He is supported by co-editors An Janssen of the University Hospital Brussels, Belgium, and Alain Maertens de Noordhout of the University Department of Neurology-Citadelle Hospital Liege, Belgium.

Paul Boon, President of the Belgian Neurological Society, said, "For an 111-year-old journal, it was not easy to change from a local printer to one of the largest international publishers. Joining the very efficient Springer family, however, was a necessary step for Acta Neurologica Belgica in order to increase its quality and visibility and, at the end of the day, the readership and citation of its publications."

Carlotta d'Imporzano, Executive Editor Medical Journals at Springer, said, "We are happy to collaborate with the Belgian Neurological Society to publish one of the oldest neurological journals in Europe. We look forward to working with the Society to increase the international visibility of the journal, and welcome receiving even more valuable submissions from international authors."
