Physicians Endoscopy announces acquisition of minority interest in Illinois ASC

Physicians Endoscopy, LLC (PE) is pleased to announce the acquisition of a minority interest in the Digestive Disease Endoscopy Center (DDEC) located in Normal, Illinois. DDEC is a joint venture partnership between five physicians, BroMenn Physicians Management Corporation and Physicians Endoscopy. DDEC is a single specialty ambulatory surgical treatment center focused on gastrointestinal disorders performing nearly 4,000 procedures annually.

The three-room, 6,000 sq. ft. endoscopy center is located on the Advocate BroMenn Healthcare Campus connected to the medical center. Physicians who provide services at the endoscopy center include four board certified gastroenterologists, Kenneth Schoenig, MD, Medical Director; Thomas DeWeert, MD; Philip Koszyk, MD; and Vijay Misra, MD; as well as Darryl Fernandes, MD a board certified colorectal surgeon.

"Over the past year we've contemplated adding a corporate partner to our business. Our partnership with Physicians Endoscopy provides the ideal business structure. PE has the knowledge and expertise that our center needs to run a seamless operation and take us to the next level. We look forward to a long successful relationship," states medical director Kenneth Schoenig, MD.

"We were impressed with the PE team throughout our discussions to bring them onboard as a business partner within our physician/hospital joint ventured surgery center. Their experience and professionalism provided our Advocate BroMenn team, as well as our physician partners, a sense of confidence that they could contribute the necessary guidance to preserve and broaden the success of our endoscopy center in this ever changing healthcare environment. The GI ASC industry is PE's specialty which helps support the hospital's mission of commitment in serving the community to continually improve the outcomes of our service, to advance quality and to increase innovation and openness to new ideas," said Colleen L. Kannaday, F.A.C.H.E., President, ABMC.
