More than 20 UK hospitals to use AliveCor Heart Monitor during Heart Rhythm Awareness Week

More than 20 hospitals in the United Kingdom will use the AliveCor Heart Monitor during the 10th annual Heart Rhythm Awareness Week June 3-9, sponsored by Arrhythmia Alliance, The Heart Rhythm Charity in the U.K.

“Francis brings a proven track record of success in Europe in the medical device space”

Heart Rhythm Week is an annual awareness week that aims to give everyone the opportunity to raise awareness and promote better understanding of heart rhythm disorders. While manual pulse checks have long been a focus of educational activity during the week, this will be the first time that hospitals/GP surgeries - from the Highlands to Jersey - will use the new ECG technology.

The AliveCor Heart Monitor is the first CE-marked mobile device-based ECG monitor that is used to record, display, store, and transfer single-channel ECG rhythms. The device snaps onto the back of an iPhone and is used with the corresponding AliveECG app. Recorded rhythm strips can be of any duration, and are stored in the app and securely in the cloud for reviewing, analysis, and printing through AliveCor's website. Cloud storage is compliant with EU Data Privacy & Safe Harbor in the European Union. ECG data is accessible anytime, anywhere.

"Helping people understand their pulse and how it can be a warning sign for a potentially fatal heart rhythm disorder has long been a cornerstone of our educational activity and forms the basis of one of our key campaigns: Know Your Pulse." said Trudie Lobban MBE, Founder and CEO of Arrhythmia Alliance and AF Association. "During World Heart Rhythm Week and beyond, we will be encouraging healthcare professionals and the public to realize the potential of technology such as the AliveCor ECG monitor to 'Know Your Pulse'."

Arrhythmias currently affect more than 2 million people in the U.K. with an additional 200,000 individuals diagnosed each year. The AliveCor Heart Monitor brings an easy and cost-effective way for physicians, patients and health-conscious individuals to record clinical quality, single-channel ECG rhythms. The portability and convenience of the device gives instant access when symptoms arise, potentially aiding faster management and therapy decisions to reduce the risk of stroke.

Francis White has joined the AliveCor Team as General Manager EU to manage and grow the European business. White comes with a wealth of experience in the healthcare industry. He spent the last 10 years at Medtronic, Inc. and most recently was the Business Director of Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management, U.K. & Ireland. He will be directing the expansion of AliveCor's products and services throughout Europe in 2013 and building from the successful introduction of the Heart Monitor in the U.S. earlier this year.

"Francis brings a proven track record of success in Europe in the medical device space," said Dan Sullivan, President & CEO at AliveCor. "Francis is a welcome addition for AliveCor as we continue to expand our services and offerings, supporting our mission of, everyone's health at their fingertips."
