TLC to provide vision health, LASIK information at World Sight Day Challenge Coalition event

TLC Laser Eye Centers®, North America's most experienced laser eye surgery (e.g., LASIK) provider, today announced its support of Optometry Giving Sight by taking the World Sight Day Challenge.

TLC centers across the United States and Canada will be celebrating sight today, and company representatives will be providing vision health and LASIK information at the World Sight Day Challenge Coalition event in Atlanta, GA.

"Optometry Giving Sight is a tremendous organization that, like TLC, changes people's lives each day," said George Neal, TLC's Chief Executive Officer. "We are proud to be a Silver National Sponsor and excited to continue to support the positive impact they make in the world."

More than 600 million worldwide suffer from avoidable blindness or impaired vision simply because they do not have access to an eye exam and glasses. This directly impacts their daily activities and their ability to learn and work.

In addition to helping identify and correct visual acuity, an annual eye exam can also detect serious health conditions, such as diabetes, up to seven years before symptoms show.

"We are delighted that TLC has chosen to support the World Sight Day Challenge once again," said Clive Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Optometry Giving Sight. "It's a great opportunity to remind their own patients about the importance of good vision, as well as helping people in underserved communities to access the eye and vision care services they desperately need."

World Sight Day Challenge Coalition members include ABB OPTICAL GROUP, Alcon, AllAboutVision.com™, CooperVision, Essilor, Eyefinity®, Marchon Eyewear, TLC Laser Eye Centers, Transitions Optical, VISTAKON® (Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.), Vision Source®, VSP Optics, and VSP® Vision Care.

The Coalition's objective is to raise awareness about the importance of eye health and to help expand access to eye care through support of Optometry Giving Sight and its annual fundraising campaign, the World Sight Day Challenge.
