CoActiv Medical debuts at the 2013 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference EXAM-PACS® version 3.0. CoActiv leverages its longstanding experience with standards-based technology to bring new market-leading features and functionality to its flagship enterprise PACS and to provide more options and flexibility across the entire product line with expanded deployment options and a more robust vendor neutral archive (VNA).
"Today, PACS must deliver so much more than just viewing and storage," says Frank Baker, CoActiv General Manager, adding that efficient and secure cross-department and -enterprise communications are among imaging sites' major challenges as is supporting more complex workflow and an ever-growing list of new modalities and exams. To that end, EXAM-PACS version 3.0 adds new functionality and performance while maintaining its familiar user interface and trademark reliability.
"It's what you don't see that makes EXAM-PACS 3.0 a standout in the industry," notes Baker. Both the CoActiv viewer and worklist are mature elements with all the necessary tools, options and user defined preferences for today's fast-paced imaging workflow. Therefore, backend upgrades that address medical imaging workflow and business demands are the core of the new version. Significant medical imaging trends driving crucial improvements to EXAM-PACS include interoperable platform independence, particularly vendor neutral technology, workflow efficiencies, and image distribution and access beyond traditional in-house clinical needs.
In EXAM-PACS version 3.0, filters and searches can more easily recognize patients with multiple medical record numbers, which is essential for regional collaboration and provider overlap. Among the introductions are also interface utilities that can update an EMR to enable access to a specific patient exam residing in EXAM-PACS, contributing to user qualification for Meaningful Use. Exams reside redundantly in CoActiv's EXAM-CLOUD® archive and are accessed directly and independent of the provider's network.
The unique new enhanced CoActiv EXAM-JACKET® time line is user-enabled and streamlines access to multiple relevant patient prior exams. The feature provides visual cues to available reports, highlights medical record discrepancies, and can be filtered by modality.
