Experts from the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation available for comments and media interviews
What: The 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014)
Experts from the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) will give oral presentations, moderate conference events, and exhibit a variety of educational posters and abstracts related to ending AIDS in children. Key events include:
- Sunday, July 20, 9-11 a.m., Session Room 109-110: A health systems strengthening approach towards elimination of new HIV infections among children and keeping mothers alive: a Zimbabwe experience
- Monday, July 21, 9-11 a.m., Session Room 105-106: Innovations in HIV treatment delivery, towards the virtual elimination of AIDS EGPAF president and CEO Charles Lyons will discuss new HIV treatment targets
- Tuesday, July 22, 7-8:30 a.m. Session Room 101-102: Where we were, where we want to be: Infant feeding in the context of HIV and AIDS
- Overview of opportunities for improving HIV-free survival of children born to women living with HIV through breastfeeding and antiretroviral therapy (ART).
- Thursday, July 24, 10-11 a.m., Media Center Press Conference Room 1: Closing the Pediatric Treatment Gap
- Speakers include: Charles Lyons, EGPAF president and CEO; Dominique Limet, M.D., CEO of ViiV Healthcare; Annette Sohn, M.D., vice president and director of TREAT Asia; and Linda-Gail Bekker, Ph.D; deputy director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre Experts will also be available for media questions and public comments on any breaking news and research presented at the conference related to:
- The Mississippi baby
- UNAIDS Gap Report
- Research and development for an HIV cure
- Pediatric HIV/AIDS treatment and new UNAIDS treatment targets
- Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT)
