HelloMD, Crosswave Management partner to provide Chinese patients with access to top US doctors

HelloMD (hellomd.com) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Crosswave Management (crosswavemanagement.com) to provide Chinese patients with access to top US doctors.

The two companies will form a joint venture, based in China, to provide Chinese patients with access to doctors from the HelloMD network of leading US physicians. HelloMD lists only the top 1% of US doctors on its platform and provides direct access to these doctors for patients, both domestic and foreign, in addition to providing remote access services, including Second Opinions and Telehealth consultations.

"China's economic emergence over the last 30 years has created enormous demand for better medical services. Despite extraordinary gains in the quality and quantity of China's healthcare infrastructure, the gap between demand and supply of truly high-quality medical services continues to remain vast. We are excited to partner with HelloMD to offer Chinese patients access to the best the US has to offer," stated Charles Hsu, Managing Partner, Crosswave. "Chinese patients are already seeking alternatives to the overburdened, overcrowded hospitals in China. At the same time, many Chinese doctors welcome the opportunity to work with leading Western physicians to deliver the best possible care to their patients. We believe that putting Chinese patients and caregivers together with HelloMD's network of top doctors will benefit everyone involved," he continued.

"We see tremendous opportunity in China," stated Mark Hadfield, Founder, HelloMD. "The HelloMD platform creates an efficient connection between remote patients and the best US doctors. However, to do this right you also need to have a comprehensive patient recruitment strategy, with people and expertise on the ground in China. We chose Crosswave because they have an experienced team who can execute," he continued.

Doctors are interviewed on camera, and videos are posted on HelloMD. The site expects to have over 3,000 videos interviews before the end of 2014, all of which will be translated to foreign languages.

HelloMD has a domestic and international strategy for patient recruitment. In addition to operations in China, they will be launching services for the Middle East, Russia, South America and Europe; in each case providing remote access to the best doctors in the United States.
