Bose Corporation introduces DuraPulse™, a new instrument for accelerated durability testing of heart valve replacement devices

Bose Corporation has introduced DuraPulse™, a new instrument for accelerated durability testing of heart valve replacement devices. Featuring proprietary Bose® controls and linear motor technology, the DuraPulse system enables research and development engineers to run tests at frequencies higher than ever before -- exceeding 30 Hz without the loss of waveform fidelity. And with Bose PeakIQ™ control technology, the DuraPulse system also prevents high-pressure spikes during valve closing.

Compliant with the ISO 5840 standard for heart valve durability assessment, the DuraPulse system is designed for maintenance-free, multi-billion-cycle operation and comes with the industry’s only 10-year warranty on the system’s linear motor.

The DuraPulse system is available in two-, four- or six-sample configurations with modular, independently controlled test chambers. Each chamber includes removable sections for simple setup, mounting and manipulation of the heart valve device. The chambers are clear on the top, bottom and sides, allowing for easy inspection and imaging of devices from multiple angles during the testing process.

These independent chambers and automatic feedback control help ensure consistency throughout the test. Samples can be inspected and adjusted without impacting any other samples in the test instrument.

The DuraPulse™ system is designed to accommodate mechanical, tissue and biomaterial valves with sewing rings, balloon-expandable or self-expanding stents.

The system joins the comprehensive line of Bose® ElectroForce® test instruments. Additional ElectroForce systems from Bose include hydrodynamic performance evaluation, dynamic linear testing, axial-torsion testing, and planar biaxial characterization.

The Bose DuraPulse heart valve test instrument is available immediately. For more information, visit Bose-ElectroForce.com.
