OUP announces launch of new journal that focuses on worker aging and retirement

Oxford University Press (OUP) is pleased to announce the launch of a new interdisciplinary journal, Work, Aging and Retirement, which is published in association with Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-sen University. The first issue is now available online and can be accessed at http://workar.oxfordjournals.org/content/1/1. The journal will initially be freely accessible.

"The editorial goal of Work, Aging and Retirement is to provide a peer-reviewed outlet whose content is dedicated solely to evidence-based, translational research on worker aging and retirement. My editorial team and I are extremely grateful to Oxford University Press and the Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-sen University for the launch of this journal. This research area is booming and the launch of this journal addresses a significant and urgent gap for creating a publication forum that enhances understanding of these phenomena. We expect Work, Aging and Retirement to attain the flagship position in this field and become researcher's first choice for publishing related studies," commented Dr. Mo Wang, Editor-in-Chief of Work, Aging and Retirement.

"We are very excited about the launch of Work, Aging and Retirement. Throughout the world, nations are just beginning to adapt to aging populations, making this a vital area of research. Oxford University Press is happy to help drive communication of these important results through the journal, which will be the first to directly address aging workforce issues," said Alison Denby, Editorial Director of the OUP journals program.

Work, Aging and Retirement reflects a broad community of professionals in the fields of psychology, sociology, economics, gerontology, business and management, and industrial labor relations. It aims to publish high-quality research that will generate interest from public policy makers, organizational decision makers, human resource professionals, and older worker advocates for the policy implications that these papers bear. Work, Aging and Retirement encourages an international perspective, publishing research and findings from various countries, regions, and entities that are governed by different socio-economic policies.

"The Lingnan College is delighted to support the launch of this new journal. Older worker employment and retirement are important social challenges that the world faces and will continue playing important roles in shaping our life. Through supporting the launch of this new journal, we hope to make our contributions in helping to better understand these phenomena and to have more informed public policy and practices," said Dr. Xinzhong Xu, Dean of Lingnan (University) College.

The journal welcomes empirical and theoretical investigations that enhance understanding of phenomena related to worker aging and retirement. The journal is also accepting papers for a 2016 Review Issue.
