Bayshore HealthCare achieves BPSO designation

Designation celebrates health care provider's high quality of care and work of all staff

Bayshore HealthCare Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has achieved the designation of Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) presented by the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO). This title comes after three years of Bayshore meeting the rigorous requirements of the candidacy program. Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, dignity and independence of Canadians in their homes, Bayshore was identified as an organization that provides excellent, evidence-informed quality care to their various clients across Canada. It has afforded Bayshore the opportunity to implement best practice nursing care while providing support to caregivers under the leadership of their nurses.

First launched in 2003, the BPSO initiative is a branch of the RNAO's Nursing Best Practice Guideline program, which began in November 1999 and has since spread across Canada and to countries around the world. The designation is awarded to health-care organizations that have been selected by the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) through a request for proposals process to implement and evaluate the RNAO's best practice guidelines. In 2012 Bayshore HealthCare was chosen among 14 organizations to complete the three year candidacy program. Through implementing best practices, Bayshore has been awarded with the designation as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization.

"The Best Practices Spotlight Organization initiatives align with Bayshore's core values and guidelines of offering the highest standards of quality service and care to our thousands of clients," says Holly Quinn, chief nursing officer at Bayshore HealthCare. "We are proud to say that our guideline implementations have led to an increase in positive patient care and client outcomes, and that this designation is only the beginning of a continuing journey of excellence."

Many of Bayshore's nurses and caregiver are proud to be part of a healthcare organization that focuses on implementing the highest clinical standards possible, allowing them to offer exceptional care and services to their clients. Bayshore HealthCare is one of a few BPSO's who have actively implemented Best Practices at the point of care by use of Nursing Order Sets (NOS) in Epsilon.
