After its widely acclaimed debut and high level of public appeal within the scope of the MEDICA 2014, the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM is going to be continued this year and is going to remain an important highlight within the programme of the world’s largest medical trade fair, MEDICA, which most recently had around 4,800 exhibitors and almost 130,000 specialist visitors.
“From the beginning on, the forum was received well and it was a complete success during every day of the event with around 2,000 participants for the presentations that were held solely in English,”
... explained Horst Giesen, director of the MEDICA, seeing decisive success factors in internationality and its thematic orientation:
“On a transnational level, in particular, issues regarding the networking of heath industry players and related technological solutions are quite future-oriented."
Christoph Opitz, Chief Executive Officer of Congen-IT Services AG (Zollikofen/ Switzerland), also seemed quite impressed and came to a positive conclusion with regard to his company and speaker participation at the first MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM: “Innovative, creative and multi-facetted contacts – we were impressed by the feedback we received at our stand in addition to the programme and the range of topics of the forum itself. We have generated lasting business relationships and definite business opportunities. We are very pleased and will be attending again in 2015.
Mobile health applications are a primary focus at the MEDICA HEALTHCARE FORUM, whereby, this year as well, the app competition organised by Mark Wächter will be supplying exciting ideas for helpful mobile device applications. For example, the iPad app “Medopad” was triumphant at MEDICA 2014: It makes it possible to safely integrate registered health data into existing databases and make these data available on tablet PCs. Furthermore, the app, “CaridoSecur active”, was placed on the winners’ podium, which is an app that is coupled to a 12-channel ECG checking device and gives instantaneous and specific recommended action for patients, and alongside it was the smart app “OUH Find Vej”. The application, which, as a first step, is available in the Danish language, acts as a navigation system for the user enabling one to find their way through the corridors and distinguish between the departments and competencies of a hospital.
In addition to the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM, the MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM, which was established several years ago, is taking up trendy topics in the field of Heath IT. Here, the primary focus is on innovations within the field of telemedicine.
MEDICA + COMPAMED being held at a different set of times
As of this year, the world’s largest medical trade fair, MEDICA, and the COMPAMED, the leading international trade fair for suppliers of the medical technology industry being held at the same time, are always going to take place in Düsseldorf during the month of November on the days running from Monday to Thursday. Focusing on the “normal” working days of the week from Monday to Thursday (instead of Wednesday to Saturday, as was the case up until now) will make it possible to provide better guest distribution for the professional audience across all four days in the future, enabling exhibitor presentations as well as their stand infrastructure to be utilised in a more consistent manner.
