Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center selects Aprima EHR

Aprima Medical Software announced today that Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center has selected Aprima EHR (electronic health record) to implement throughout the ambulatory clinics of the hospital system. Aprima will replace the hospital's legacy outpatient EHR, supporting 32 providers across multiple specialties.

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Salida, CO, serving nearly 20,000 people in the community.

Previously the hospital had been using an inpatient system that wasn't ideal for their outpatient/ambulatory care needs. The hospital reached out to David Ginsberg, senior advisor at the Colorado Rural Health Center, which is the state's office of rural health, to serve as a consultant in helping them find a solution.

Mr. Ginsberg conducted a thorough review of EHRs and found that Aprima's system offered both easy documentation and comprehensive functionality in all aspects of the EHR. He was impressed that Aprima presented capabilities of particular importance to a rural health system, such as Heart of the Rockies.

"The Aprima EHR is an intuitive system that also delivers functionalities, such as Care Plan Oversight and Chronic Disease Management, which are critical in rural health. Other FQHC/CHC features that were critical to choosing Aprima were sliding fee schedules and regulatory reports like Title X," said Mr. Ginsberg.

After all the evaluations, the physicians made a unanimous decision to select Aprima as the vendor of choice. "We looked at many options and we selected Aprima based on recommendations from David Ginsberg and a selection committee comprised of staff and providers," said Robert Morasko, Heart of the Rockies CEO.

"From a clinical standpoint, we chose Aprima because it seems adaptable to primary care and specialists alike," said Robert Hunter, MD, director of the Orthopedic Center of Excellence and the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center at Heart of the Rockies. "Because the system doesn't rely on older template clicking technology we were able to envision how much more efficient we'll be while staying focused on patient care and patient satisfaction."

"We're very pleased to welcome Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center to the Aprima family, and more specifically to our hospital demographic which continues to expand. This adds to our ongoing success of being a great solution for hospitals where the inpatient EHR systems typically do not translate well to the physician office environment," stated Michael Nissenbaum, president and CEO of Aprima.
