Non-profit organization Dermetel announced today that they will begin production on a short documentary to raise awareness about skin cancer. The documentary aims to focus on the often-parasitic relationship between indoor tanning bed companies and young women, and highlights how skin image insecurities fostered by an unhealthy advertising and indoor tanning bed culture often lead to skin cancer diagnoses. Interviews have already been scheduled with politicians, melanoma victims, procedural dermatologists, indoor tanning bed salon owners, and frequent indoor tanning bed goers.
To raise funds for the production of the film, Dermetel will be holding their first annual, all-ages 5K road race in Arlington, Virginia at the Four Mile Run Trail on November 28th, 2015 at 9 am. Race registration is between 7 am to 8:55 am and ample free parking is available at the Bluemont Junction Park and the Playground at 601 N Manchester St, Arlington, VA 22203. Runners will enjoy a loop route surrounded by DC's impressive and historic landmarks all while supporting a cause that will benefit millions.
