Workshops and seminars are fee-based, with proceeds benefiting CannaMoms, a nonprofit helping families with sick children in need of medical cannabis. An industry expo will be open to the public, with free admission, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily.
Friday's medical program includes speakers and panel discussions by prominent and respected medical practitioners, including Dr. Juan Sanchez-Ramos, of the University South Florida, and noted author and keynote presenter Dr. Gregory L. Smith. They will be examining the latest medical cannabis legislation and research, as well as recommendations for the effective development of medical marijuana treatment plans.
Florida's recent passage of a constitutional amendment legalizes marijuana as a treatment option for patients with debilitating medical conditions including cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Crohn's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis or other comparable illnesses.
"Now that we have the legislation in place to provide for the use of medical cannabis, educating physicians, patients and their caregivers about it is the next big step toward providing relief, and even recovery, to many patients," said Angela Ardolino, respected Florida parenting and family expert, and noted proponent of the medical marijuana initiative.
