Tell us about the company and why you are attending Analytica 2018?

We started out in 2011 as a bio-process service provider taking our clients existing bio-processes and optimising them using a multi-factorial, experimental approach. To enable us to run these very high dimensional, complex experimentations we used lab robots. But, we quickly learned that it was very difficult to achieve the level of complexity and throughput we wanted with the software provided with lab hardware.

So, we decided to build our own software that would not only communicate with lab hardware but also allow us to plan and execute sophisticated, multi-factorial experiments. We found that Antha allowed us to increase experimental throughput by 100x. Our focus then shifted to empowering our clients to run these sophisticated experiments themselves using the software we’d developed.

We are launching an important equipment integration with the Gilson, Inc PIPETMAX® . This partnership between 2 leading companies, will empower more scientists to easily realise the benefits of flexible digital automation. This empowers the Scientist to focus on the experiment they want to do and not be constrained by the limitations of existing lab hardware.

What products are you highlighting at Analytica 2018?

Antha platform integration with Gilson PIPETMAX

What makes this product different from anything else on the market?

We are the first company at the intersection of biology and technology that has closed the loop between the physical and digital. Only by working across the whole of this spectrum of the Industry 4.0: automation, data integration and machine learning can you deliver a solution that finally solves the research pains that scientists face. We are thus the first company in the world moving towards what we call a Biology 4.0. Whilst, the version of the product shipped with Gilson is our base product - it still will enable researchers to observe orders of magnitude increases in productivity versus their current work practices.

Which industries will benefit from this product?

Companies in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and Cell and Gene Therapy Industries will find immediate benefit. We also have a long track record in the wider Synthetic Biology ecosystem including Agritech, Foodtech and Industrial Biotechnology, so see potential use cases in the biology labs of organisations in these industries.

Demo the Antha software at Booth 327 (Hall B1).
