So, once again we ponder the chicken and the egg.  But this one is easy!  Tobacco Control is financed by pharma, who KNOWS that the tobacco plant is not a villain but a source of potential profit.  So they demonize it to the point that they can control the market through bans and high taxes on nicotine with their own brands.  They can't possibly be sure that tobacco causes any kind of cancer.  After all, it is a nightshade plant which includes MANY foods that people eat every day in the form of broccoli, eggplant, and tomatoes.  It was only a matter of time that 'pharma' rears their ugly head with medicines made from the tobacco plant.  This all lands on the heads of incompetent politicians who don't know a chicken from an egg!
